![]() ![]() Why are the dcraw and libraw histograms missing values?ģ. editors Included in this guide: 1 GIMP View 2 Ashampoo Photo Optimiz. is this correct? Then why do the libraw (dcraw emulator) and dcraw histograms not match the Nikon NX-D histogram?Ģ. Nikons Capture NX-D (seen above) is a free Mac and Windows download that provides. I would like to get libraw to be as close as possible to the Nikon converter and was under the impression that dcraw used the actual (previously encrypted) color curves used by the Nikon converter. Also the libraw and dcraw histograms were missing discrete pixel values. The Nikon NX-D historgram is quite different and appears to be have undergone a different transformation (color curve?) than the libraw and dcraw histograms. ![]() The histograms for libraw and dcraw were very similar, however the dcraw histogram was shifted to the right relative to libraw. Capture NX-D does seem to offer some workflow advantages (by converting raw content to 16-bit tiff and making it available to the Nik plugins) but its still a world away from the way Nik intended them to be used. The histograms for the red channels are found in the attached image. I then loaded each converted tiff file into "The Gimp" to compare histograms. For NX-D, I converted without making any adjustments. NX Studio software offers a full-fledged suite of intuitive tools for viewing, processing, and editing photos and videos. ![]() I compared Nikon's Capture NX-D utility, libraw, and dcraw. Capture NX-D can carry out sophisticated and wide-ranging adjustments, from automatic lens corrections (with Nikon lenses) to subtle selective colour shifts. There comes a time when a new camera will not be supported anymore in NX2. And I regret the loss of the NX2 control-points. With the break between NIK-software and Nikon, this was to be expected. You can check out the full changelog on the GIMP website.Hopefully, the histogram images will post now. This week, the beta release of Capture NX-D was also annouced.
